now to Aranea and MeenahRanty headcanon/personal storyline:
She was the average bookworm who had a fascinating interest in trolls after reading about them and getting a good grip on their culture and wished to be one. However, Calliope was born with a disease that made her look different (and in her eyes, ugly). Because of this, she had no friends, and her brother would mock her of her lack of friendship whenever he wasn’t asleep. She then contracted with Cuebey with the wish of being beautiful.
Her weapon became a mirror that shot blasts of energy at will, but also sapped from her Soul Gem. She gained the ability to change into any humanoid form she wanted to so long as she had concentration and enough magic from her Gem. However, she primarily took the form of a troll with white hair that she would write stories about and draw in her notebook - Callie Ohpeee. The “ugly” schoolgirl had been no more.
The sudden change still earned her no friends, however. When she would introduce herself as Calliope, people would be horrified at her suddenly new look and quickly call her a fake and a liar. Because of this, Calliope entered a depression, and her brother was no help either as far as supporting her.
Eventually her depression created a Witch with a barrier full of mirrors. If a human were to be caught in her barrier and earn her Witch’s Kiss, they would have the permanent thought that they are ugly.
